I wonder what effect Fuji XS-1 Ultra Zoom is going to on the UZ camera market?

With 2/3" sensor, about twice as big as the SX40 and same sensor that Fuji has in the X10, and it does RAW but
only 26x zoom. I'd like see some real test and sample images. It looks like it's going come in around $800 so it's pricey.
I believe most the previews we are seeing on this one so far are Pre-production models.

It looks to have a manual focus and zoom ring on the lenses, that would be nice.

DPReview says the Bridge camera reinvented.

You can get a refurb D3100 and a Tamron 18-270 for about the same price, just not as portable or have the same distance on the tele end.

dpreview isn't saying that, Fuji is. It's a press release.

That Fuji is larger than a D5100, and weighs more. I bet the Tamron wouldn't add much size or weight beyond the Fuji. I'd have to really not want to carry a gadget bag/extra lens to favor the big bridge and give up flexibility.

I'd consider it if

-the IQ at full zoom was remarkable. It would need to be better than the Canon or Panasonic and approaching DSLR quality in good light.

–it is good at tracking BIF and action photography (so, very good AF), e.g., soccer and football

–it has a continuous rate of 5fps or better that could maintain that speed for at least 3 seconds before slowing down (20 shots).

–it has a high quality EVF, something much better than the FZ150's.

I'd buy it for the zoom. Having a walk-around 600+mm zoom with good to excellent IQ that I could take on hikes or to the grandkids' soccer matches would be great even if it is as heavy as my D5100.

The FZ150 is close to that ideal now, but I'd consider the Fuji if it were better.
