Can a cell phone battery cause intermittent cutting off?
#1
My Mom has a friend who keeps asking me to order her a new battery for her LG cell phone she got at Walmart a year and a half ago. It cuts on and off as she's talking and will usually go totally off in every conversation. I told her it's probably because she has dropped it 5 or 6 times and to tell Walmart to see if they can do anything for and if not, get a new phone. She wants me to order her a battery off ebay regardless. Would a bad battery (that's been dropped several times) do this? It charges up OK. The battery doesn't discharge, the phone just cuts in and out or goes completely and has to be turned back on.

Sounds like the battery is loose and loses connection intermittently during a call. My Pixi used to randomly cut off because of a loose battery until I wedged a piece of paper in to keep the battery tight against the contacts.

Yes. Yes it would. My tried and true Razr got a new battery last week for this very reason.. phone kept freezing and resetting. New battery.. no problems.

Ah, the time honored paper in the battery compartment fix.

After a year and a half it's probably time for a new battery anyways.
You should be able to find one for under $10 via eBay.
