Need to Replace High Pressure Power Steering hose on 95 Toyota Truck
#1
Bought the hose the other day at Autozone.

See my current hose is wet.

I have read directions on Youtube and another. Both indicated I just take off, PUT on, and fill to cold level.
Then start up, and go left to right with the steering wheel a couple of times to bleed system, and Add if needed.

Other directions on Autozone, and the bag the hose comes in, says that I should loosen the return line to bleed the system.

Any suggestions as to technique.

Thanks.

just don't run it completely dry; that would be bad. I've done the replacement before, but just drained out what is in the hose and the tank. after draining and reattaching said hose, I filled it, ran it and then checked the level again. I can't say that I remember how much was missing upon refill, though.

Don't forget to refill the system with the recommended fluid: Some systems use actual "power steering fluid", while other systems call for one type or another of automatic transmission fluid. According to my Haynes manual covering those trucks Dexron II ATF is the recommended fluid, but if the owner's manual calls for something else then it is correct and Haynes is wrong.

Also, it's not a bad idea to invest in some tubing wrenches for jobs like this. Using tubing wrenches instead of regular open-ended wrenches will greatly reduce the possibility of rounding off a stuck connector.

Yes it uses ATF Dextron Type. Tubing wrenches, will do. Those type of fittings, have always been a problem if you don't grab them just right.

THanks
