can't connect mac to internet through ethernet at work!

I think I tracked it down, this mac address had not been added, so now the system should be up and running. One problem though, suddenly the ethernet port doesn't seem to work. The cable works on the other computer but Computer 2 doesn't recognize it (the network settings says cable not connected) and the switch light won't come on. Connecting the phone directly to the computer also doesn't work. This was working this morning!

Any idea how to check the port? I tried resetting the pram.

First thing I would do is look inside the network port on the computer and check that none of the contact wires are bent. I have seen that happen enough and keep a port from working. If one or more are bent, they can be carefully straightened with a set of needle-nose pliers.
