Grace, your second post rather conflicts with your first post wherein you commented:

In your opinion, are the American Catholic Bishops "Liberals" or "Conservatives" ?

I'll help out.. most Catholics in the US that I've meet style themselves as Conservatives... of the compassionate sort.

I'm not seeing any conflict. On social issues that "social conservatives" care about, those involving access to contraception, abortion, and civil rights for gay Americans, there is no question that the Catholic Bishops of the US are extreme social conservatives. And I see no compassion whatsoever in their point of view, I find it quite hateful and not particularly Christian.

On other issues they would be considered liberal, but as you see Republican politicians don't seem to concerned about what the Bishops have to say about war of choice, labor, the environment, the death penalty, or caring for the poor. Based on how they have operated over the past 10 years or so, and the politicians they choose to attack (Kerry, Obama) it's tough to view them as anything but politically conservative.

As for Catholics I know personally? Very liberal. In all areas. Frequently embarrassed by their leadership.
(with a few exceptions, of course.)

This is from a Fox News poll out today which shows the President's approval at it's highest level since last summer, his lead over Romney widening, and this:

The new Obama health care law requires that employer health plans provide birth control coverage as part of preventive services for women. Catholic and other religious-affiliated hospitals and universities typically have not provided any birth control coverage for their employees, and oppose the new requirement because it violates their religious rights. Overall, do you approve or disapprove of requiring employer health plans to cover birth control for women?

Approve 61%
Disapprove 34
(Don’t know) 5

So Obama shifted the cost to the insurance companies and we will all end up paying for free contraceptives for all in the form of higher premiums anyway.

I just don't understand how the government can tell a business what they must sell let alone give away for free.

How would you like to have insurance through your company and have some Christian Scientists pitch a fit and say you don't get any medicine?

I'd advise them to self insure.
