1080 netflix via new appletv
#1
This seems like a really good announcement. It should bring the appletv on par with the current crop of roku boxes at least in regards to netflix.

I would rather have a smooth 720p stream than a choppy and re-buffering 1080p

Stupid question here. Can it be set to stream 720p and not 1080p or will only stream exactly what source is coming
into the box. I can set my set top cable box to feed like 4 different resolutions.

Dolby Digital 5.1 too. Been waiting for that. Not sure my TiVo does 5.1 yet...

Grateful11, by "stream" do you mean the signal it outputs to the TV? There are choices for that based on your TV's resolution.

In what context does that mean? The ATV2 will pass unfettered AC-3 instead of AAC if included as a separate audio track from say, a Handbrake file.

In the context of the thread, Netflix. 5.1 audio from Netflix isn't available on all of the devices that can stream Netflix.
