Hi everyone,
One of my students was asking me about this ... she's apparently got a card that is not reading properly. I don't remember what we all think is the best software for this, preferably free but shareware is fine.

ImageRescue comes free on some camera cards and might be enough.
For tougher situations, I have had good results with CameraSalvage (about $40) and its big brother, FileSalvage (about $80).

If you're saying I'm spamming this thread, you are mistaken.

I think Fillmann is referring to the random spam we get throughout the day from various folk in Asia. Much of it focused on nonsense like that.

Did you post today for the first time just to promote software that no long time user here has ever recommended? If not, I was not referring to you.

I've got Picture Rescue. Have had to use it only once, but it did a good job of recovering images.

I've used PhotoRec (free) several times with great success, and recommended them in other threads.

I'm not spam. I've worked with Macs since 1984 and been on this board for years. Any person's experience is limited, which is why discussions here can be so helpful.
I had a problem installing CameraSalvage and the company upgraded me to FileSalvage for free. They were helpful. So was the software. At the time, no free alternative that I tried did the job.
