A pity that his addictions coloured his life with pain and struggle. It may be that his treatment at the hands of LA Police had a positive effect on LA's policies and procedures. The reaction by people in the community, and the negative interactions between the Korean and African American community at the time, made his case a flashpoint for subsequent violence and destruction. But that was not his fault, or doing, or anything.
Still a pity.
