What character may I use to drive a folder to the top of the list in both Mac and Windows OS?
#1
I am using Dropbox. I have folders that are named for the client. I am working roughly half-time at one of the clients and have an office with a Windows computer. I named my folders with an asterisk to drive them to the top of the directory on my Mac, but of course the folders don't even show up on the Windows box because asterisks are apparently not allowed.

What character might I use to drive my client folders to the top of the directory in both Mac and Windows? I don't want to use numbers because there are several folders placed by applications whose names begin with 1.

Thanks, Gutie

Ditto, I also use a tilde (~) character for that exact purpose.

i always use underscore on windows machine at work
not sure if it works on mac, but i would imagine it does

_top folder

another way to do this is use numbers as the prefix
00topfolder
01secondfolder
02thirdfolder
