Why won't iTunes recognize my iPhone 5???
#1
This is driving me nuts!

Just got a new iPhone 5, activated it, then went to restore from a backup in iTunes (11.0.1, on a Mac Pro running OS X.7.5). iTunes simply won't see it! iPhoto sees it, it charges, but iTunes? Nada. Hooked it up to my laptop, and it works, but the backup I want to restore from isn't there.

Tried creating a new account on the Mac Pro, but still no go. Coincidentally, I just scored a brand new iPod Nano (6th gen) so I plugged it in to see if it's recognized. NO! This was all using the front USB ports on the Mac Pro, so I tried disconnecting everything USB from the back, other than the keyboard, then plugged the Nano into the back. Voilá, it was recognized! Then tried the new iPhone, NO GO AGAIN!?!

Any clues as to what might be going on here?? I've shut the machine completely off and unplugged it for a few minutes, just to see if the USB bus needs resetting or something. I know that used to work with FireWire...

I'd love to hear any and all suggestions you might have!

Okay, it worked after this latest startup. Phew! Not what I needed to spend a couple hours on tonight!!

I guess maybe the USB bus needed resetting? Any other theories??

G'night all, I'll check to see if there are any replies in the morning...
