OMFG! migration from XP to Lion - is there another way?

giving my spouse my Xeon 1st gen.
She has an old Gateway XP laptop.
Windows migration assistant v1.01 required that XP updated .NET framework 3.5.
It's been dl'ing for 20 mins or so.
In doing some reading, this Windows update appears to be a dog.

So, is there an alternative way for me to get her XP stuff to the Xeon, even if it's via my Lion MBA?

I migrated from 10.6 to Lion and then did ML. I still have two windows that pop up at log in I cannot get ride of or anyone to explain how to get rid of them. I've tried Cocktail, Warrior and FInd....Nada Nothing seems to find the files so I can delete them and stop this darned window popup.

we walked away for 6 hours that it took to not get the address book from outlook or any of the old email.
excellent.

I found a simple way to get the vCards from Outlook, so that's done.
Now my spouse will just have to look thru her old emails and determine if any are needed.
