She is great in a small venue. She did several shows in Schenectady, NY at the Van Dyke bar/restaurant over a 4-5 year span and we sat 10 feet from her piano at two shows. Maybe 150 seats in the space. Kenny Edwards was touring with her at the time and was such a nice guy. I remember buying her first album when it came out in the '70's based on the Rolling Stone review, still one of my favorites.

She has a beautiful simple, resonate voice. You can listen to her all day.

WOW, that's a name I haven't heard in decades!

I remember people talking about her in the late 60s maybe, early 70s, but she would have been pretty young then. But the kids I hung out with were really into music and I was just developing interests.

Would you call it a "musical" voice, as in a musical instrument? Some women possess this and it's mesmerizing.

Two who come to mind are Sarah Brightman and Esther Satterfield. Oh, and K.D. Lang. There are a lot of great female vocalists, lots of great types of voices, but I can get lost in a musical voice for day.

I'll hit iTunes and give Karla a listen.

She was a background singer for people like Linda Ronstadt. We all know that background singers have to really be able to sing with perfect pitch and either have purity in their voices or a unique character that's reliable and expressive. Her voice to me coupled with some very well done songs I just find the right kind of voice to listen to. I love the singers you mentioned and I would say that she shares a musical trait with them.

I like how if you really have a gift, even long after you've had your big moment that you can continue to cultivate enough of a following to have a nice career. The Janice Ian's and even the late Laura Nyro has kept a fairly lucrative following based on being delightful.

She has a beautiful voice, and wrote many great songs done by Rondstadt, Raitt, Judds, etc.

I bought a ticket, and the venue is small. Saw Trixie Whitley there last night - Eddie's Attic in Decatur (Atlanta) It is a listening bar, and talking etc is discouraged. Very particular about chair and stool position so there is not a bad seat in the place. 2 chicks "created" a prime place in front of me and blocked the view of probably 20 people. Manager came up to them and explained it to them.

Trixie was $13 and Karla fix was $25. Place is close to my house, and they have early shows 7:00 Acoustics are great, and the food is ok. Get there early, get parking, and a burger or salad and a prime seat.
