Are people that desperate? ....wasn't there a killing a few weeks back over a pair of Nikes? Can't they afford the shoes or equipment themselves ...they need to kill for it. So primitive.

Howard's entire point was not about the kid that killed his own grandfather for sneakers, a phone and set of tatts,
but it was all about the evil gun that did the evil deeds.

Most of his posts, lately, are about the rampaging guns, out of control, guns terrorizing the land.
The evil guns. All by themselves....

That NRA argument is a little tired. I do not think that crime would have happened without the gun. Guns are like remote-control killing machines--you don't have to get close, and you don't have to touch the victim, in order to kill him. It's easier, and more impersonal, with a gun. Guns kill.

Gute-
I would actually expect this crime would have happened without the gun. It would have been at home, involved much bloodier events, and involved the grandmother as well. The young man murdered his grandfather for money. The man who was caring for him.

A gun is not a 'remote control' machine, but it is 'easier' than the more intimate methods of murder such as knives, bludgeons, or hands. I'll agree with that. I'll also agree that it's 'easier' to kill when in an altered mental state with a gun. For much the same reasons.

All the more reasons for safety.
