Tough week for four-year-olds and cars
#1
A 23-year-old man and his daughter were shot--while sitting in a car! Both were taken to the hospital by a family member and will recover fully. But while we're on this subject--

If they hadn't been sitting in a car, they wouldn't have been shot while sitting in a car.

Think about it, America.

Shootings are only acceptable in the city? Good grief.

Um no. I was pilloried for that very assumption a few weeks ago. We've had a number of child shootings in Cleveland and Akron recently, but they were in the main gang related, and part of the overall culture of gang violence that is pervasive in the inner cities in both towns.

What was the root cause of this particular shooting ? Don't know. Police stated they believe it was targeted, so they have some sort of idea.

Do note that most news articles include the neighborhood. This lets everyone in town know where it took place, and they will draw their own conclusions based on the type of problems that the neighborhood has. We ALL make those associations and assumptions.

A shooting in a wealthy suburb ? Robbery or some jealous lover thing.
A shooting in a gritty inner city community ? Gangs or drugs.

Every crime is a tragedy. But the root causes differ.

B.S. Where do you get this nickel sociology?

I covered cops and courts for years and the "root cause" does not differ much. People kill for love or money. It might be love unrequited, love undone or love denied. Same goes for money. It does not matter whether it happens in a "gritty inner city" or "wealthy suburb."

Try pulling your head out of that pigeonhole and you might see something you like in the "gritty inner city." Till then stop trying to comment on life there.
