folding vs handbrake
#1
I've noticed that when I begin a handbrake queue that FAH remains the dominant cpu user and then after awhile (at least the first time) it switched to handbrake. I'm doing another handbrake queue today and so far FAH has remained dominant. Do I need to configure something differently?

Normally folding should be running at the lowest priority, so any request for CPU time by Handbrake or other process running should be given to those over folding. Folding will use any CPU time not used by higher priority tasks. Does Handbrake have a priority setting among its preferences? As long as Handbrake is running at a higher priority than the lowest, it should get whatever it requests for CPU time.

I have not used Handbrake, but I have used other transcoding software while folding. That was I/O limited, so as fast as it could read the video data and recode it, it still used less than half the CPU time available on my i7 iMac. Folding got the rest. Without folding running, the CPU increased only a bit higher percentage-wise.

Mac Folders@macresource.com's team number is 38910. A smaller team that was started by OWC after the move from dealmac and before the name change was done for 38910 is Team MacResource with number 48057.
