Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea to click the respond links on those emails. Just delete them and move on, or forward them to spoof@ebay.com with long headers.

I get about one of those a week. They all go to spoof@ebay.com who assures me that they will track down those who sent it.

here's what I do when I get email like that. First and foremost, I do not open emails that are obviously spam. It amazes me how I keep seeing people post here about how they opened what is CLEARLY spam. If I suspect that it's spam, I use Mail's "Save As" command, and save the email as a text-only document to the desktop. Then I open it in TextEdit. About 90% of the time, it's spam. If the spammer had a graphic in the email that could be used to track your email address, it won't work because I'm opening it outside of mail, and can see all the HTML coding.

rz, cool tip.
I have a vague recollection of some form of mail having a pref that allows you to read it as text or html.
Mail.app gets about 85-90% of my spam, but sometimes stuff leaks through. I'd like to read one from time to time as I'm almost positive that it's spam, and curious, but not *postive*.
I opened one by accident some time ago and saw a spike in spam for a couple of months, then it tapered off. Though I'm curious, I don't want to take a chance on a 1 pixel graphic lurking.
I'll use this tip in the future.
