some delays when loading web sites
#1
comcast cable, I use OpenDNS servers in my Apple router. Sometimes when I try to load a web site, it just doesn't load, I open a second tab, load a different web site, after I see the new web site starts to load, I go back to the first tab, and sometimes that start to load, other times I have to refresh and it loads right away. it's almost like my request never made it to the server in the first place.

I have good WiFi connection (RSSI:-47) and I am 10 feet away from router. I don't think it is the WiFi, but I can try a wired connection. it's not that bad to bother me to test wired, but of course I would like to eliminate these delays.

Do you have any sort of Ad Blocking going on?

Have you tested your bandwidth?

I recently had similar trouble with Comcast. When testing at sites like speedtest.net, I found that I was getting the promised 100+ Mb/sec download, but my upload speed was almost nonexistent (<0.02 Mb/sec).

This caused lots of sites that involved any kind of cookies or other data exchange to hang for a while before loading, even though my download speed was good.

I do have on my MacBook, but no on wife's Macbook. I saw this on iPad, iPhone, wife's MBP (10.9.5) and my MBP (10.6.8 and 10.9.5). In fact on my MBP, when I boot into 10.6 I do have ad block enabled, when I boot into 10.9 I do not have any adblock, I didn't install it yet. I see delays in both cases.

DNS requests are timing out.

Unless you're using OpenDNS for filtering purposes, try using 75.75.75.75 for your primary DNS.
