OT: NCAA recognizes problem with student athletes.... decides to give them more money.

Perhaps a reaction to Unionization attempts ?

"The vote, taken during the NCAA's annual convention, redefines an athletic scholarship so that it can cover not only the traditional tuition, room, board, books and fees, but also the incidental costs of attending college. That means a scholarship will now be able to pay for items including transportation and miscellaneous personal expenses'

Round-off error in terms of $$ from modern TV contracts.

Won't stop the lawsuits.

Take sport away from universities, and set up private leagues. Like in Europe.
Focus on education first.

OR take all monies earned by Univs on sport programs and put ALL OF IT into a gigantic fund to pay for grants and such to allow more people access to higher education.

I don't like the idea of student athletes earning big bucks, but like even less operations earning big bucks off the backs of students.

Cap salaries of univ employees (especially coaches & presidents)
