{I want to believe] Guess which show may come back from the dead-- with original cast?

does fringe get better? I just started it. Kind of dumb first 3 eps.

You won't believe what it turns into. Keep with it. The producers/writers actually did have a road map. The buildup explodes as Season One ends and then launches into some incredible Sci-Fi TV in Season Two. One of the nice things about the series is that they actually managed to wrap it up at the end.

I recently re-watched the entire thing on DVD. I had been lukewarm about parts of it before. After viewing, I appreciated what a great job they did.

Ditto.

The remark about "Fringe" being the next generation of the show also has at least a scintilla of truth to it and buoys the 'why bother?' aspect of it all for me.

Carter took his run at telling that story, took a respectable shot at it, had a nice number of golden years, but, I think most would agree, never managed to get his hands around the back end of the story.

Idle speculation, true, but Amazon canceling his new show, along with what seems like a bit of an unusually long fallow period, has me wondering if perhaps all the hosannas initially thrown at the feet of X-Files might have brought out a little too much of the 'artiste' in Carter to the detriment of his 'successful creator of entertainment' side.

I just saw this too... would they reprise their roles, or would time have moved on?

Would they finally clarify the storylines with the aliens and the baby?

IMHO it was the secondary, un-related stories ("Clyde Bruckman's final repose", "José Chung's From Outer Space", "The Great Mutato", "Bad Blood", Humbug, etc...) that made the show fun to watch. Especially the one that were clearly supposed to be campy, or tongue-in-cheek satire. All the barely tenuous links to Mulder's missing sister and the "cigarette smoking man" shadowy group were just plain hokey. That story line just seemed to be made up with each new year, like the writers were surprised that the show was picked up for another season.

Agreed.

After awhile, I felt like the show writer(s) had no idea where to take the show. The occasional bunny trails and rat holes were fun, but later, for every step forward in progress, we were given two and three steps back and in the end, I felt like there was never any thing reveal or learned. Except that I really wanted to see Jillian nekkid.

does fringe get better?

For my money, it started good and got great. G's mention of the road map makes sense. I felt like the series had a pretty natural flow, as though it ended when planned. BSG may have had an overall planned arc, but it seemed to me the end was rushed and something of an afterthought.

I've rewatched Fringe once, and will do so again. I though the cast was great. And while I like Mark Valley, he was the weakest performer of the lot. I like him in Human Target.

Absolutely spot on.

would they reprise their roles, or would time have moved on?

I don't think time or current makeup technology would allow them to pick-up where they left off. Not that they look bad, but they're definitely older, and I don't know that most people could shake that off.
