Speaking of cameras - D600 service recall?
#1
I just read the Canon 50mp thread and got to wondering. I looked up specs about my D600 and found that there was a technical service recall in March! Holy Cow! Mooooo!

I got mine refurbished from Adorama and cleaned the sensor myself as it did have some spots on arrival. However, I got is squeaky clean! It had over 4000 actuations on it when I got it, so I thought that the dust/oil problem had probably worked it's way out.

Has anyone done this service thing with their D600? Might it be worth the effort? Just curious. I assume I will be without the camera for several weeks...

Thanks, I was aware of the problem and that Nikon would have fix it, if one pushed the point, I was not aware of the recall. Let them inspect it, a friend received his back with some minor upgrades....

Nikon has actually replaced quite a few D600s with D610s. At first they denied there was a problem, they then grudgingly offered to repair the problem, and finally capitulated and offered to replace defective cameras with a free upgrade.

I have no idea whether the offer is still available and whether it is available to non-original purchasers.

The D610 is an amazing camera. The D750 just adds bells and whistles with no significant improvement to IQ. Therefore, I would definitely ask.

Better to get it fixed so the issue does not keep requiring a cleaning.
