I need help with a "frozen" HP Touchpad. It takes someone with a PC and tech savvy...

When saw this offer in the "For Sale& Free Items" forum, it got me thinking that, perhaps one of my forum friends could solve the technical glitch that has "killed" my Touchpad. From what I've read online, it is fixable, but I don't have the skill or the PC that's required.

Buzz- Yeah, and it's built like a brick. Old school HP design. The inductive charging stand makes it a perfect kitchen tablet / picture frame. That's how it lives now.

This mention of "bricks," made me think about my 32GB Touchpad, which is sitting being charged. It's showing the tiny little light that goes back and forth, which indicates it's charging, but I just can't get it to turn on!

I've seen numerous complaints about this issue and fixes were mentioned that involved using a PC to get the battery circuit to reconnect. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a PC, nor do I have the expertise to figure out how to perform the fix.

I have desperately sought assistance with this issue, but haven't found someone to fix it. HP won't even discuss tech support for this device.

I loved using this tablet and would pay someone to fix it for me, please!

Any takers? PM me if you can assist me.

My mom's Touchpad came back to life after sitting on the Touchstone for about a week.

GeneL-
I had the same issue. I plugged it into the charger and left it for a week as well. Also doing the 'hard reset' fixed it a few times.

Power management seems to be one of the little bugglies with that gizmo. It does NOT like being left to starve to death.

Based on similar reports, I've had it on charge continually thinking that this might bring it back to life. It will occasionally show the "discharged battery" icon momentarily on the screen when I hold both buttons, but usually there's no sign of life, except for the little light that indicates that I have it plugged in to the charger.

From what I've read, the problem is that the connection of the battery to the rest of the device's electronics has somehow been interrupted. The fixes that I've seen require attaching the Touchpad to a PC, which apparently allows someone to "awaken" the connection by running some sort of code?. When I did a google search, I've seen quite a few references to how the fix works, but I'm not PC-knowledgeable and I don't have a PC, so I can't fix it myself.

It would be so wonderful to have the use of my Touchpad again! It's a perfect solution for my needs.

cbelt3, I have seen and tried the fixes that were mentioned on the linked page: "If this does not work then you can hard reset your Touchpad by holding the button at the top of the screen and the small black button slightly below and center on the screen for fifteen seconds. It is easier to feel the black button with your fingertip than to see it unless you look at an angle."

Unfortunately for me, that didn't revive my Touchpad, although I did see the dead battery icon on the screen several times in the past.

It definitely seems that there's life in my device, but I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the battery has lost its connection to the rest of the circuitry. At least that's what I've read about when I searched further. I have seen a description of how to restore this connection, but as I've said, it requires a PC. Sad

Can anyone step up and fix this for me? It will mean extra margaritas at El Torito! Smile-D

I would give it a try but I've been running around finishing up a move and it might be a week or 10 days before I get to it.

Thanks, FHM.

I can only imagine how much work you'll have with your move. From where to where?

I've waited a long time since my Touchpad died, so I can wait a while longer. It would be wonderful if you could make it work again.

Good luck with your move and let me know if and when you can take a look at my poor little tablet. It looks so sad, sitting there, being charged and trying so hard to fire up.

Makes me want to cry!
