Recommend a car paint DIY source?

Max,

They aren't the real Earl Scheib. The company went out of business in 2010. Prior to that, the company sold some of its stores, equipment and privilege to use the Earl Scheib name to the managers and owners of many of the locations. That's why you still see Earl Scheib locations today.

You can't get decent supplies to properly paint a mid sized car for under a grand.

I guess it depends on what you call decent. A 'prosumer' Graco HVLP is ~$300. Might be able to get half of that back on Craigs after you finish paiting (or sell it here and I might buy it if I havn't gotten my own by then).

I used a parts washer dipped in a bucket of thinned out Rustoleum and did a nice paint job on a friends car. At the time, the gallon of paint was worth more than the car.

Ever priced out the gallon price of epoxy primer, and 2 part paint, and the solvents, on and on and on?
