Silk Road internet underground drug lord gets life sentence because he kept a diary
#1
He didn't acutely write this but maybe he wrote something similar. Dear Diary: I hope keeping record of illegal activities doesn't come back to bite me some day. Oh, and I think Katie next door has a crush on me. Ross Ulbricht

Mr. Ulbricht, 31, was sentenced by the judge, Katherine B. Forrest, for his role as what prosecutors described as “the kingpin of a worldwide digital drug-trafficking enterprise.”

He also faced a mandatory minimum 20-year sentence on one of the counts for which he was convicted.

No, he got a life sentance for repeatedly breaking the law, and extensively assisting others to do so as well.

No, he got the book thrown at him for creating a venue outside the law.
Obviously we cannot have that, everybody needs to be in the system....

Yes, my understanding is that he kept a diary of his law breaking ways used as evidence against him.

Well, originally PayPal was working outside the law. Acting like a bank, but not being a bank. They got called on it, and just purchased a bank.

As noted above, the whole hiring-a-hitman thing tends to mitigate the "it's just PayPal for Bitcoin" defense.
