Unsuscribing from an email mailing list... Sites claim it takes up to X days. Makes no sense.

I specifically told them that they had the opportunity to retain me as a customer if they could resolve this situation to my complete satisfaction - not an unreasonable condition, given the magnitude of their screw-up. They weren't interested in doing so. Which is fine with me.

An apology and a heavy discount would have been fair. The problem with 50% off is that they double the price during Valentine's day, so the discount they were offering you might have been a price increase...!

I'm amazed you got the apology!

As for unsubscribe - I did a full experiment, posting it here a few years ago. Nearly 1/3 of the emails had NO WAY to unsubscribe. 1/3 made it difficult to unsubscribe - for example, forcing you to accurately type in my recipient email using case sensitive letters (and capitalizing my gmail!), or delaying the unsubscribe, or having a last-minute screen 'are you SURE you want to end all correspondence? We could reduce our email rates to you!)

There was 1/3 of the pile where unsubscribe was clear and easy to do - the problem is that those are the vendors I WANTED to get their emails from!

I truly, truly want a service where I can go UPSTREAM of my email that's shared between iOS devices and my Macs, and put a strong filter on all email that has the word 'unsubscribe' or related in it. If someone knows of a way, I'd sign up - I want to make all email an opt-in only option for me.
