recommend a good carrying case for a new(ish) MBP
#1
We just got one at work that will probably be mobile a lot of the time. So I'd like some kind of carrying case. Doesn't need to carry anything else except maybe the power cord, since the person doing the carrying will probably have another bag. So I guess mostly just for transportation and protection. Not necessarily an "office in a bag".

It's a 15inch btw.

I was afraid of that.

We put our mobile Macs in clip-on protective cases; always used. Doesn't add a lot of weight but cefrtainly protects from bumos and scratches.

Amazon Basics. Pretty good for the price.

Not as inexpensive as the Amazon basics or the cheapies you'll find in an office supply store, but I like ThinkTank's sleeves. Well-made and well-thought out. They do have some extra storage compartments if you need them, but they remain slim if you don't. I have the vertical My 2nd Brain 15", but the Artificial Intelligence would be a good choice too:

Not sure why Brenthaven seems to have discontinued the Trek line (I think that's what it was called). My kids were issued these with their school laptops and they are perfect for protecting and toting around a Macbook and a charger. I think they only came in 11" and 13" sizes anyway.

This one might be perfect for you, but I don't think there's any place to stow a charger:

I have a Brenthaven Collins, and my kids told me I picked a really cool one. I'm hip!

I've always used Tom Bihn, not cheap. Also have a well appreciated think tank for camera use.

Anything from Brenthaven that fits. I have a Brenthaven Trek sleeve for my 13" MBPr and I wouldn't part with it. Unfortunately Brenthaven stopped making them, but if you can find one on eBay or Amazon, grab it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might look into some of these for my wife's laptop.

It occurred to me yesterday to just ask our IT guy. Sure enough he had several just laying around. Sure they were Dell bags, and they were a little larger than I needed. But they were here and they were free.
