Can I buy an unlocked iPhone 6s at Apple Store
#1
In this movement of 5 or 6 people from ATT to Tmobile., And we all live 35-40 miles apart, was going to go to the local Apple store tomorrow.

What are the different type of phones now available. Are all the 6s's the same, whether you are going with Verizon or ATT/Tmobile., Or whether your provider needs a SIM or not.

So could I go in, and buy a 6S, and it should work on any carrier????

And does Apple offer any sort of BUY phone on payments with low or no interest?

And do they buy back the iPhone 5s., etc...

Would be nice to buy the 6S 64Gig, that was unlocked and could be used where ever I want. But in this case will probably be T Mobile.

the tech specs between different "models" look so close that differences may be a typo.

...which is to say that i have no idea but an interested to hear the answer.

might list your phones here if they're in good condition.

Yes, choose the "SIM-free" version, which is unlocked.

It's actually the "AT&T" A1633/34 model, which has full coverage, including LTE Band 30, which the other models lack.

The Upgrade Program purportedly stil requires a carrier affiliation and activation, but people say they haven't been enforcing that in stores, so you can take the phone without undergoing activation. The biggest hurdle is having a credit check done, and getting approval for the loan through Citizens Bank, which is the actual lender in the program.

CitizensBank declined me (my FICO score is 746) when I tried to buy an unsubsidized 128GB 6s+ last month in the Apple Store in Mishawaka, IN. Last week at an ATT store in NY, I scored that model WITH subsidy, keeping my Unlimited Data Plan! Go figure.

That's wha's so confusing about iPhones. I would like to eventually do the same as Microman, just buy iPhone outright, unlocked, but able to take any SIM from any carrier, and the thing just work! At the same speeds. Reckon that's not doable though, eh?

Supposedly both the AT&T and Sim-Free phones have the extra 2.3 gHz band
The AT&T sim included phone supposedly will be locked.

I'm getting ready to jump off the AT&T ship also. I've been fighting the exact same and corrected every flipping month billing error.
Also trying to decide on which iPhone.

They actually made it easier this time.

The SIM-free version is available now (last time with the 6, they didn't release it until the new year), and is the "best" one to get, and covers all the bands and carriers.

(Disregarding the Chinese market CDMA model, there are only two basic models of 6Ses -- the A1633/34 "AT&T" model with the extra Band 30, and the A1687/88 model sold for every other carrier, which lacks Band 30)

The SIM-free option is the AT&T hardware, with the WCS Band 30. The differences are you don't get a bundled AT&T SIM, and have to pay full price.

The second one may or may not be correct about it qualifying for the financing program. Apple's site still says a carrier and activation is required, but as I noted above, people have been saying they don't enforce that in stores.

The bigger potential issue is with the loan application process:

I can confirm that the iPhone6S+ AT&T purchased from Apple is factory unlocked if you pay for it in full at the time of purchase.
