For the rest of us, Leo Laporte (yes, I know) and Ron Richards did a brief interview with Prof. Alan Weinstein, of, I believe, the Caltech LIGO Astrophysics Group, on the latest episode of The New Screen Savers.
While short, it was definitely interesting.
The best part is that Weinstein is a pretty cool guy, something I can't say about a lot people who are Big Brained, or think they are.
This guy speaks Regular Guy, making it interesting and comprehensible. I wish this could have been the whole show.
Screen Savers also had a great segment on using a laser to scan ears to make custom molded earphones with 3D printing (eFit Hearables), and the potential for some amazing uses.
There was also a mention of the Sparkle exploit and how to check if you have any apps, besides VLC, that use it.

What's wrong with Leo? He doesn't bug me. I like that he is platform agnostic and knows a little about a lot of related subjects.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out.

knows a little about a lot of related subjects.
He never knows when to shut up, constantly talks over his guests to say something stupid, frequently spews FUD, has to be constantly corrected, regularly jumps to conclusions and is often off base, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
He spends way too much time trying to show guests that he knows as much as they do, instead asking questions or just letting them talk.
Other than that, he's a real mensch.

I listen to TWIT and he can hardly go 5 minutes in that podcast without saying something just wrong enough to worry me that people won't know he's making sh!t up from some headline he read without looking at the story.
You know what's cool, tho?
He lets his guests correct him and goes to the forums when he's doubtful.
So, yeah. He's not the smartest guy in the room, but he's a legit mensch. Means well. Tries not to be an a-hole.

He does, when they can get a word in, though he's oft a hard sell, and you can see his guests retraining themselves during those times.
But it's a rinse-repeat scenario.
He continually shoots from the hip and continues to miss. He generally learns from a mistake only to continue the whole cycle.
It's a tribute to his guests that they can put up with that.
One of the few people who could deftly keep him in check was Sarah Lane. That girl had/has great skills.
I will say that he's a decent guy with doing Security Now with Steve Gibson and his Tech Guy radio show.
I didn't say he's without merit, it's just the constant channeling of Jay Leno that bytes my bits.

He doesn't bug me that much. My problem with the network was every time I found a show I liked, either the host would leave or the show would get canceled. Oh well.
