R.I.P.

I vaguely remember him, since he was from my Dad's generation, but Pop knew who he was.

Listening to my Dad's music as a kid might be how I know who he is.

jdc, ye're probably too young to know of him. A great singer.

My favorites are from the '50s through '60s. Kenny Vance, Johnny Maestro, Jerry Butler, many many more from that era. Wow, what music! Sonny James was more country, and a great singer.

I remember lot of his songs when I went through some playlists. My parents might have liked some of his stuff but Dad never bough any of Sonny James albums that I know of.

My absolute favorite from Sonny James "Young Love".

That version was on the road to making James a crossover artist (from country to pop) and then Pat Boone did a cover of Young Love that stopped him dead in his tracks.

Boone made his reputation money doing covers of other artists hits and doing them badly. Ever hear one of his Fats Domino copies? They were simply awful.

RIP. I liked his pop songs because of his range.

Amen, bro. Pat Boone, although he had a fine voice for ballads, was an embarrassment to real rock'n'roll.
