Political anecdote: Visited my doctor yesterday...
#1
...and we got to discussing politics. I ought to mention that during the primaries we talked politics, I offered him a Feel The Bern bumper sticker that he took. After I accused him of being a traitor to his profession, he couldn't say he'd post it since he lives in Thousand Oaks and Thousand Oaks is to Democrats what Rhode Island is to Republicans.

Anyway. I hadn't seen him for a few months and my health issues aside we spent the time again on politics. He related about how when he first moved there (during the Kerry campaign) he noticed that during election season there were more lawn signs than he'd ever before seen and for three months before that election he never saw anything but a Bush sign.

Somehow his wife had found a small enclave of Democrats that they then attached to. After the Kerry defeat, even that small enclave dissolved. So since Bush I, they've lived in Red City. They don't talk politics with friends or neighbors and that's the status of their about 20-year residency.

Seems his upper-middle class neighborhood has changed. He noticed that for the first time since he moved in, there's a total lack of political signs. None for Hillary (no surprise) but not a one for Trump, nowhere he said - not anywhere and he drives the place (albeit way too chickenshit to put the Bernie Burn on his bumper) everyday.

In neighbor talks, he's noticed a total lack of interest in discussing anything not family or neighborhood related. He surmises there will be very little local interest in turning out to vote this time. This from a red on red Los Angeles suburb.

That he's Muslim probably colors his hopes but he's far too intelligent to let that sway him. He's barely 40, looks 30 and more Caucasian than Brad Pitt in appearance (so much so he had to discontinue taking in female patients under 30 - true really he did, I use to kid him but about his looks but it became such a problem (they would fake symptoms just to see him) - he eventually banned all females under 50 from his practice).

He, his wife and his kids aren't targets since they look OK except as one day the kids decide to step out and they well may, if I know their Dad, he'll be chastising them for not completing their education before stepping out but supporting them from start to finish.

Did I forget to mention, I really admire this guy?
