Trump rejects FBI's email conclusion

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — Reacting to news that the FBI won't change its determination in the Hillary Clinton email probe, Republican nominee Donald Trump made it clear he still regards her as guilty and is convinced she will ultimately face justice.

“You can't review 650,000 emails in eight days," Trump said Sunday in an appearance at the Freedom Hill Amphitheater. "You can't do it folks. Hillary Clinton is guilty.”

Disregarding the announcement by FBI Director James Comey that the email case against Clinton would not be revived, Trump said he was sure the investigation would yield dividends at some point. Trump has long pushed the narrative that a fair investigation into the Democratic nominee's email use would surely produce evidence of criminal behavior.

“The investigations into her crimes will go on for a long, long time," Trump said.

"The rank-and-file special agents at the FBI won't let her get away with her terrible crimes, including the deletion of her 33,000 emails after receiving a congressional subpoena."

Comey noted investigators only reviewed "all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State" [in Huma Abedin's account] — not the full 650,000 that were reportedly found on Anthony Weiner's laptop.

Apparently he didn't ask anyone who knows how computers work past Twitter accounts, lol. At least the NCIS version.

He still thinks the Central Park Five are guilty. Technology leaves him baffled.

I read some minor conservative's columnist on the whole brouhaha and he was saying (paraphrasing) liberals who demonized Comey a week ago are now singing his praises.

Naw, we're not. Frankly, he should step down, as bad as he screwed this whole thing up. However, I bring this up because it's the N-teenth example of right-wing projection, which really did hold that Comey was shielding Clinton until he told the world he had more emails to review. Then he was brave and courageous, especially in the sight of a certain presidential candidate:

"What happened today, starting with the FBI, maybe the system will become a little less rigged. Beautiful,"

"I have great respect for the fact that the FBI and DOJ are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible mistake they made," said Trump, who had recently been sounding the alarm on the campaign trail to "investigate the investigation" into Clinton's server.

"The FBI would not have reopened this case at this time unless it were a most egregious offense," Trump argued, even though the FBI has not said it is formally reopening the investigation into Clinton's email server. "I've had a lot of words about the FBI lately, but I give them great credit for having the courage to right this horrible wrong."

A week later, not so much:

Trump said Comey’s decision is proof that things in Washington are “rigged” in Clinton’s favor.

“Right now, she is being protected by a rigged system. It’s a totally rigged system,” Trump told supporters in Michigan. “You can’t review 650,000 new emails in eight days. You can’t do it, folks.”
