OT: Self installed Home Burglar Alarms?
#1
A long time ago after we got burglarized I bought a Schlage Keepsafer home burglar alarm. There was a main control unit, and remote sensors that would go on the windows and doors. Still there but getting old, and not using it anymore. And I want to put it into action again, and I am sure that it is not supported any longer.

Are there any others that are available? What is the current technology like?

Thanks.

A nice juicy T-Bone with doggy downers puts that guy out of business in a heartbeat.

By supported, you mean tie into local alarm company ?

My dogs will not eat anything unless we tell them it is okay. That training had nothing to do with burglars, or protection. There was someone in the SFV throwing poisoned meat into yards, killing several animals.

What do you want to do?
Just a door/window alarm?
Motion sensors?
Surveillance?
Just when your there?
Protect against Breaking, and Entering (B&E)?
Burglary?
Want to monitor the house from work, or afar?

Some insurance companies will give you a discount if the alarm was installed/approved by a certified electrical engineer. My dad was one, so he got a discount on the cheapo model he personally installed. He eventually had one professionally installed with an alarm pad and a small sign out front and a monthly fee for remote monitoring.
