Any advice on SAD therapy lights?
#1
My son's therapist recommended SAD lighting for his depression, but didn't have any specific recommendations? Any advice from the forumites?

There's lots of youtubes about it. I don't know if any make a recommendation. DIY might be a possibility.

I built one for my wife from plywood, sockets, bulbs, wire and a switch, for about $30. I lined it with aluminum foil to increase reflectivity, and put a sheet of translucent plastic on the front. Depends on how handy you are.

Recently saw a DIY for re-purposing old, big TV illumination panels for SAD use.
You can probably google it. Looked like an excellent solution.

The Wirecutter article is pretty good. High brightness and UV A filtering sounds like a good product in their review.

It sounds like some a little more reading is necessary to figure out when the best time of day is for treatment depending on if someone has the worst symptoms in the Fall or Winter.

I bought my mum one a few years back. Seemed to help a bit.
In storage now.

Sounds like a scam to me. Any old light should do. Just pick the color you want.
