New, non-Tesla electric car network pricing is announced in Europe - equates to a whopping

$0.88/KWH. Wow.

Paying a lot less even when opting for renewable.

Our Voltec ELR is parked at my in-laws in Mexico right now. The latest bid to supply windpower in Mexico was 2.5 cents per kWh, the cheapest in the world. They desperately could use electric vehicles in the very polluted capital of that country so hopefully the cheap electricity will push that to happen.

Ps.: We burned gas all the way there.

If you were seriously taking it to Europe, would cost be an issue?

The whole point is that the economics of this electric charging network is ridiculous. They are deliberately trying to overcharge electric vehicle owners by adding basically a 200% surcharge over the actual cost of the electricity from the electrical grid.

If Tesla declines to also make such surcharges on their supercharger network, will reduce the total cost of ownership per year by up to thousands of dollars.

I wonder whether this is also a political ploy to get the EU to increase subsidies for electrification of their ground transport fleet. After all, the main customers who will pay this extra charge will be truckers etc.

Or it’s a way to keep diesel trucks on the road for longer.
