Doesn't matter at all whether it's generics.
Name-brand medications are also manufactured abroad, many in China.
even excluding all of the "cheating" on ingredients, independent labs have shown that because those Chinese factories have contracts with multiple drug companies and aren't careful about cleaning the equipment between different types of meds, a majority of drugs manufactured in China have been contaminated with entirely different medications. (This may also be true of many drugs made elsewhere, including the United States. I haven't seen much in the way of independent testing of drugs made in the U.S.)
...And because of the way the FDA has let big drug companies work it, most drugs are not labeled with their proper point of origin. Not that it would matter much since you have almost zero choice in the matter.

From what I’ve read recently, the FDA has practically everyone policing themselves because of budgets.
Please tell me that I’m wrong, i want to be wrong on this one.

And it's not just drugs. GM doesn't tell you a lot of their now Mexican 'assembled'
vehicles consists of major assemblies manufactured in China. Go to a US Buick
dealership to buy a $35,000+ 'Envision'; doubt the salesman will ever mention it's
a 100% made in China product. You have to look on the crowded label in the door frame.
