.....so if you still can't get any regular grocery delivery services in your area......this might be an option......


Panera turns to grocery deliveries as coronavirus shuts restaurants

.....With most U.S. restaurants closed to dine-in customers because of the the coronavirus, Panera Bread is starting to deliver bread, fresh produce and other staples to consumers hunkered down at home.

The service, dubbed Panera Grocery, gives customers the option of ordering common grocery items alongside the company's usual fare of sandwiches, soups, salads and sweets, the bakery chain announced Wednesday. Consumers can use Panera's app, the company's website or Grubhub to orders groceries for delivery or pickup.

Backed by Krispy Kreme parent JAB Holdings, Panera operates 2,174 restaurants in 48 states and Canada and employs more than 50,000 people. Panera last reported annual revenue of nearly $3 billion in 2016 when it was its own publicly traded business.

Panera has plenty of company in making changes to its business model. Nearly all U.S. restaurants — 97% —are running under some level of restriction during the pandemic, with most no longer offering dine-in service, according to industry experts at NPD Group.

Quick-service restaurants, like Panera, which historically have more off-premise delivery and takeout business, saw transactions plunge 40% in the week ending March 29 compared to the year-ago period, the research firm found.

One option that might be worthwhile is a "restaurant supply grocery store" that sells all the food that previously went to restaurants (that have closed), business cafeterias, and school food programs. Some dairies are complaining that they are having to dump milk because stores limits on purchases leaves them no retail outlets for all their product.

I’m kinda surprised no restaurant supply stores have come to the fore with a direct to-consumer interface to sell the abundance of institutionally-packaged toilet paper, soap, and cleaning supplies they’re sitting on. Food, too, of course. We shouldn’t be complaining about shortages. We should be complaining that everything in the supply chain has turned into Costco-sized packages.

You can find many institutional-packaged products on Amazon, still shipping (YMMV).There was a thread on TP here a day or so ago.

restaurant supply warehouses do this now since the restaurants do not order much.

You need to find these warehouses and call them directly, they will probably sell to you.

Bought two 20lb boxes of frozen chicken cutlets (5 ounce cut from breast) from a local supply place that was advertising heavily to get rid of stock that restaurants aren't buying anymore.
