Fortnite vs Apple : Tim Cook has lost the moral high ground

Epic did not break good faith in the negotiations by asking for the same deal Amazon received; further, they asked Apple whether the same counter offer they were making could be offered across the board to other developers...

They broke faith by adding an online store purchase in violation of Apple's rules BEFORE they tried to negotiate.

They deliberately got their most popular product on the platform kicked off of the store in an effort to leverage popular opinion against Apple and THEN asked for special treatment.

Apple has formally apologized to Wordpress for trying to force them to add an in-app purchase option to their free app.

Argue all you want about Fortnite (I’m not going to call them Paladins of freedom for developers), but the Wordpress situation should never have happened, and every developer should be able to get the same terms as Amazon.

Making good software is hard. Making money off it in iOS is even harder when after the 30% Apple tax and then the US government taxes.
