I predict he'll nominate Barbara Lagoa next week, and the Senate will confirm her
#1
She's young for a justice, but politically perfect for Trump.

As a successor to the late Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Lagoa, 52, would bring lengthy judicial experience in state and federal courts as well as two potential political benefits: She is a Cuban American from a battleground state Trump desperately needs to win in November.

Trump praised Lagoa and another front-runner, appeals court Judge Amy Coney Barrett, in remarks to reporters Saturday. He said he has "heard at length" about Lagoa. "She's Hispanic and highly respected," the president also said.

He has said that about several people close to him that are not in or fated for prison. Not a great reference.

In this case, it's true. She is respected. She was confirmed by the US Senate in 2019, 80-20. Part of her appeal could be that Senators like Murkowski and Romney would not have a good reason to vote no on her nomination.

She was one of the attorneys for the Miami-based family of Elian Gonzalez. Other than that I don't know much about her record.

A broken clock is right twice a day. Doesn’t make her anywhere near the idealogical spectrum of RBG.

Not sure I understand your comment. Personally I think it was right to send Elian back to Cuba to be with his father. I don't think she (or the Republicans) were right about wanting to keep him in the US.

No of course she is not a liberal like RBG. Otherwise she would not be so admired by Trump and DeSantis and other so-called conservatries.

A right-wing White Latina? Sounds like a perfect appointment for this president, even if he has to disappoint Stephen Miller...

I like her a lot better then the Judge Amy Coney Barrett

Amy Coney Barrett is on record that her own personal religious beliefs supersede the US Constitution. She's a right wing Catholic, with views more extreme than Antonin Scalia.

She never should have been confirmed to any level of the Federal Bench.
