best temporary email

Hey guys,

I am in the process finding a new job and moving. Although I don't have a set plan I want to start transitioning some of my email to a temporary address. Specifically I want an address that my husband can use to apply for jobs. He often has to fill out online applications at hospitals, which are usually a real bear to deal with. So I want something that will work with any issues involving this. Also, I would prefer something I can use with Mail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd like to avoid hotmail because of some difficulty I have had with it many years ago. Is gmail any good?

many businesses block hotmail accounts because of the sheer amount of spammers who use hotmail.

don't think of it as a temporary address. It's time to stop using your ISP's email for anything important, and set up an independent, third party, non-ISP email like gmail (shudder) or similar.

It's awkward to keep changing email addresses as you move around and change ISPs. Get a permanent one you won't have to change.

But beware: Google is evil, so use gmail at your own risk.

Gmail is good, but read my post above about recent problems with using it with Mail.

The problem with Yahoo -- it does not look professional, having a "Yahoo" suffix.

My suggestion -- see if any institution your husband attended allows you to have a free email alias. (e.g., myhubby@institution.edu) ... then have that alias point to another account, such as gmail.

Also, consider a paid service rather than one of the freebies -- fastmail is good.

Absolutely, consider a paid service.

Just because something is "free" doesn't mean it has value in any given circumstance. One wants to look professional, and--like it or not--that doesn't happen with many of the free services.
