I disagree.

I’m not sure what testcase means. But we ALL lost last week - no ‘winners’ from the Capitol sedition.

P.s.: There was a reason Pres. Trump recently replaced the top leaders at the Pentagon. We don’t yet know why.

Yes, seems like an easy way to keep certain government checks , well, in check. Telling their new leaders ‘nothing to see here’ at the very least. Asking them to help with the sedition at the worst.

We’ve all be waiting 4 years for Trump to “grow into the job” and somehow become, if not presidential, at least better than his narcissistic inner self. At each turn, his apologists have said that failing at his latest outrageous attempt at totalitarianism will have taught him a lesson, and no further action is required. And they’ve been wrong.

Trumpism is a cancer on our politics (especially on a once-great Republican party) and our country. He needs to removed permanently from the White House for the safety of our country and all of us; he deserves to be disqualified from ever holding office again.

It may not be possible. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.

How about a quote?

“President Trump has made clear in word and deed that he will persist in such conduct if he is not removed from power. He poses a continuing threat to our nation, to the integrity of our elections and to our democratic order. He must not remain in power one moment longer.”

Fellow New Yorker, Rep. Nadler, January 2020.

Or as a counterpoint, how about this quote?

“I believe that the president has learned from this case. The president has been impeached. That’s a pretty big lesson.”

[ Susan Collins, R-ME February 2020 ]

Yes, Trump did learn a lesson: He learned that he can abuse his power and obstruct the investigation of that abuse, and get away unscathed to commit more...
