Nate Silver tweeted that Alaska has changed its primary system so that Murkowski can probably be on the ballot without needing GOP support. Remember that she was primaried before Trump, and won a write in campaign with Dem support. She is no Bernie, but if Schumer can offer the right incentives (e.g., committee assignments), we might not need Kamala as a tie breaker.

I think having Kamala BE the tie breaker is great exposure and makes her a much more active, participatory Veep than her predecessor... so ideally keep the numbers 50-50 as much as possible to wield the cudgel of the Vice Presidency.
