I qualified for Medicare halfway through my R-CHOP chemo for lymphoma in 2016. I remember looking at my Medicare explanation of benefits, which shows the retail price.

If I remember correctly, the bag of Rituximab retails for $34,000 and I used six of them during my course of chemo. Don't remember the cost of the other chemo ingredients.

I remember being very pleased at the time with my insurance.

An aneurysm leading to a MERSA infection leading to an aorta replacement. A MERSA relapse 8 years later followed by months of rehab.

Total billings ran into 7 figures, no idea what or who was actually paid or how much. These days if you can't own a casino, grab a piece of the medical/pharmaceutical market and then spend your time clipping coupons.

Thankfully the VA (I don't know why) covers the most expensive anti-rejection meds for a close relative who received a kidney transplant a few years ago.

As will Medicare no matter your age. Medicare also covers dialysis.
