We paid about $200 or so for it. The more I use the above model, the more I realize that dollar for dollar, it was _really_ good bang for the buck.

Two issues with Wirecutter's recommendations. The first is they are all _very_ expensive. To me, a cordless stick vac should be a cost effective vacuum to use when you don't want to break out the more powerful corded upright or canister. We actually use the Shark all the time and, while it can't replace a more capable corded upright or canister vac, it works well enough that we only break our canister vac when our cleaning lady comes to work on our apartment and wants do to a much heavier vacuuming and/or if we need to clean up a _serious_ mess.

The other issue is that many of the recommendations aren't freestanding. You need to lean them against something or hang them via a mount (that sometimes doubles as a charger).

The Shark is freestanding when not in use. The Hoover Linx, our previous stick vac, which is fairly inexpensive and served us amazingly well for a _very_ long time, is also freestanding.

Definitely no regrets getting the Shark. Even happier with it now than I was when I did that write-up back in September.

Considering we don't use the Shark as a direct replacement for a corded canister vac but still use it an astonishingly amount of the time and how well it performs for most jobs, I'd be hard pressed to spend the bucks for one of the more expensive models from competitors like Dyson and Miele.
