Looks like iTV is generating far less interest than iPhone
#1
I wonder if this is a good sampling of the impact these products will have on the market.

I can't decide if being able to record HDTV off HiDef cable onto my G5 would be worth an investment in the expensive peripherals vs using PVR and dedicated standard DVD recorder (which btw produces excellent results)?

I have six people who have already contacted me about it and asked if I really think it will ship next month. They're chomping at the bit for it; they want it more to run their iPhoto slideshows and etc. to their TVs, not to mention the iTunes factor (they have impressive A/V set-ups; one had been thinking about doing the same thing via a Mac mini, but the price point and size on the AppleTV makes it more attractive).

iTV is a great product, but its one everyone already knew about. Remember when iTV was first announced...people were excited. It's a great product, but it will take time to grow. How many people have 802.11n right now? It's basically only the C2D Mac owners and maybe another handful of PC users.

Pampers are a great product too, but I have no need for them either....

"How many people have 802.11n right now?"

how many have use for it? I bet 99% of all wireless users use it for internet and NOTHING ELSE.

Just been looking at the iPhone demo on Apple.com http://www.apple.com/iphone/internet/

I have to say that seeing the demo has made my mouth water. I am struggling with the cumbersome and slow interface of the Palm OS on my new Treo 700P. My previous Palm device, a Sony Clie´ was far easier to use, btw.

At this point, if I could afford it and there were other provider choices, I would go for it in a flash. It's definitely a well thought out design and seems very intuitive.

As I always say, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

It doesn't require wireless, you can plug it into ethernet.
I run two of my EyeHomes wirelessly, they run great, but don;t try to download big files while watching movies, it stutters.

[quote hal]My interest in iphone is low, but my interest in iTV is nonexistent. I'm Right there with you man Streaming video is joke!!! I was really hoping for a Set top PVR with out a subscription, I can stream video to my 80 Gb iPod last week, and as a bonus it's ultra portable for taking to the G/F or out of town I was Really hoping to get rid of this jinky Dazzle/ITX Pvr I built, but it's looking like I'm going to gut THAT Replay TV box in the closet to put a mini ITX MOBO in and build a better PVR! the iTV was another Great LET DOWN from Jobs, and the iPhone isn't much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least the Pocket P.C. Phones have business application; yea the iPhone has a certain neat toyness about it, but let's face it if it had some applications to it would be 1000000 times more marketable
As long as Jobs keeps ignoreing the Business Man's needs, Sadly apple will still be a SMALL share of the market on the Fringe of the industry! think about how much better NEWTON was, Hell I'd kill to have one again!!!!!!!! but like Beta it was over run by a small start up called palm, what chance does the iPhone have against the Microsoft phones that are out there now with market share?
