Watching OSU fans cry makes me laugh.

[quote bradsdad]Playoff... so when the 8th ranked team (you still have rankings, and there will be arguments who those 8 teams shoudl be) with 2 losses wins the playoff season, they are given the nat chmpnship? There would be even MORE complaining than there is now.
I didn't hear pro football fans complain last year when the Steelers won the Super Bowl after being a wild-card team.

Playoffs would drive more uninvolved fan interest. I could give a blow if the West Idaho Polytech Rabid Chipmunks beat the Upper New Hampshire Green Boogeymen in the Northwest Alaskan Pipeline Builders Bowl... But if the Chipmunks start knocking off teams on a Cinderella run in the playoffs, you know that will garner attention. If you weren't a Florida fan last night, you were likely tuning out in the third quarter (if you weren't a UF or OSU fan, you may have never tuned in anyway)

Division 1 needs a playoff and a Gonzaga type team in it.

Unfortunately the greedy jerks who make the decisions already announced there would be no changes to the format before 2010.

What do you expect? we are only the fans and viewers, it's not like we are corporate sponsors or network programmers.

Well, here is my 2 cents...

OSU just plain sucked last night. No offense - no defense. Everyone moving like they were in slow motion. It's like they were all recovering from a hangover or something. It was painful to watch.

Not trying to make excuses, but anyone who watched OSU this year will agree that this performance was not them. Troy Smith and the rest of the team was flat. Was it the Heisman curse? Overconfidence? The long (almost 2 months) wait without a game? I don't know what it was but hats off to Florida. They obviously came to win, and OSU didn't show up at all.

*Oh, and Karsen your boys in blue don't have anything to crow about either. Remember this scene in the "shoe" several weeks ago?

So if the Big Televen had a conference championship, tOSU woulda been sharp?

I don't think it was the length of the layoff. Florida was off over 30 days. Lack of much play didn't seem to hurt them in Austin. They came out cocky and talking trash. Expecially after Ginn's runback. They were bowing up to everything from the players to the mascot.

What sunk tOSU was the fact that during the whole layoff, all they heard was how great they were and how this was gonna be a walkover. They found that talking trash and strutting doesn't cut it.

Florida, OTOH, heard the same and got super-motivated to practice well and be prepared. they came out fearless and ready to unload.

And they did.

You can take the whole post season bowl scenario and run it over and over again and it will always be different. If Ohio State and Florida played ten times who knows. And don't say that teams like Boise State would get creamed by LSU or USC. You never know. That's what makes it interesting. Everybody has their team and they want them to win. I have posted quite a bit over the football season and many times it looks like I have made people mad. That's because I'm for my team and they can do no wrong, right? I really just enjoy the different opinions expressed in the forum.

I think after all is said and done, I just enjoy college football for what it is. It is interesting to me, but not everyone. Now all we have left is basketball, hockey, and golf. The horror, the horror. Please let August come soon.
