Symantec rebate in the form of a......

I recently had to purchase some Symantec stuff for a PC and found a rebate when you purchase Turbotax too.

I had recently bought TurboTax, so I sent it in.

A few weeks later, the $40 rebate comes in as a preloaded Symantec Visa debit card. It is bright yellow with the Symantec logo on it.

That is kind of a cool way to do it. I don't have to deposit the check, I can go right to the Apple store and use it as the first $40 downpayment on my new WS iPod/iPhone/Internet Communicator!

yeah and the confusion of the instructions saying you can't use it (for example) at a gas pump but need to take it in to the store and then tell the cashier to enter it as a charge card rather than a debit - BUT THE CARD CLEARLY SAYS DEBIT CARD - oh sure, it's a legit card right after newspaper articles written about all the crooks creating these types of cards. And the real joy comes when you get to spend part of the balance. Now you need to know exactly what balance remains and you go through the "I know it says Debit Card but run it as a charge card." So the two rebates cards I got from Symantec are in my pocket still - after three attempts to pass them off. Prolly now the monthly fees will kick in and the balance will be gone before I get pi$$ed off enuf to throw it away.

Not in California -- that is illegal here.
