July 17, 2002: iMac G4, offering a 17-inch widescreen LCD display

I always thought the 17" lamp style iMac was the best proportioned look of the series.

July 17, 2002: Apple ships a new super-sized iMac G4, offering a 17-inch widescreen LCD display that becomes the envy of most computer users at the time.

“The best consumer desktop just got even better,” says Steve Jobs of Apple’s new all-in-one computer. “Having this gorgeous 17-inch flat screen floating in mid-air right in front of you is simply breathtaking. There’s nothing like it in the PC world.” He wasn’t wrong!

I love this machine! I keep one around so that I can boot into OS 9, as I still have a few audio projects left over from back in the day.

That staand is the best. I wish they would offer that and a magnet mount. Would be great for the iMac or iPad!
My daughter's Hello Kitty Mirror is plastic, but works great. I wish it was available in good steel!

Me too! Mine serves duty most of the time running a slideshow of family photos but is also used with older versions of iTunes and iPhoto (non crappy version). I also use it for printing 4x6 photographs with my old reliable Canon Selphy printer.

Funny, the only Mac style I never owned or used. Went with laptop plus external monitor and keyboard or full tower Macs.

Same here, although wife sold her 17" model but I still have the original 15" 800mhz model I bought new in 2001 (?). It's still in use, on 2nd hard drive and the SuperDrive went south a couple of years ago and I will probably replace that.
