Running Catalina. Apple Mail rules were so flaky for so long that I deleted them all. Of course now all the spam goes to the Inbox, but like before, there are still legit emails still getting dumped into Junk, which for me is potentially worse than unfiltered spam. Marking "not spam" on the legit emails doesn't help: the same ones are dumped into Junk, again with no rules. I'm about to give up on Mail altogether. Any ideas?

Reset the junk mail filter in the Junk pref's in Apple Mail and start training it again.

Yep. Reset. I’ve got 50+ rules. They practically rule my life.

I know many here like it, but I have always hated the Apple Mail program.
My husband used it and it was forever acting weird and causing problems.

Im not in love with it, but it works 100% of the time, which is most important to me.
little quirks I can deal with.
But its flawless. Every email sent to me I get, everyone I send out goes. Rules keep me organized, and even with hundreds of GB of emails it is/was super responsive.
Could it do more... perhaps.
I used big a big Entoruage user, then mail. Have a pull postbox license, hated it... slow.
maybe someday when I move to Monterety I will look again...
