MacHighway problems
#1
The web page for my English country dance group is hosted at MacHighway; I use their free Weebly page editor to create and maintain the site. I use it to pass on information; there is no commerce so simple works for me.

Problem is that I cannot edit my pages right now. I was chatting with tech support for nearly an hour on Thursday with no success. HE could access my page for editing, but I cannot, getting a redirect error. I tried three or four browsers and three devices all with the same error.

Tech guy's first solution was to clear cache, but since I have never used some of these browsers to access MaHighway I was sure the problem was something else. We gave up with him promising to pass the problem "higher up." Later got an e-mail saying that several customers were having the same issue, so at least I know it isn't just me!

Problem is that I need to be editing my page ... like NOW and as of nearly midnight Saturday I cannot edit my pages. I have been with MacHighway since my iWeb days! My loyalty is being tested this weekend. it might cost me attendance on Sunday since I have not been able to provide updated information.

Have you done a malware scan recently?

What Doc says, but just to add, I dumped MH after a couple of years of issue after issue with them...

I'm still with them (since iWeb days too). Never had any problems.

I'd been with MacHighway since end of the iWeb era. Last year, there were intermittent problems; couldn't upload my website for days at a time. They swore their server migration would fix it; afterwards, it got worse. Inability to upload, having my IP blocked, all sorts of nonsense. I'd had enough.

I have a website I update daily for my engineering clients, announcing new work in the market; I couldn't put up with that.

I use EverWeb for my authoring program, saw they also host, so I moved there. No problems since. Far faster uploading as well.

From what I understand, MacHighway got bought out, consolidated with the purchaser's original company, and basically put customer service on the broken back burners. Lots of discussion on Twitter about problems with them.

Cost me a few bucks to move away from MacHighway but luckily I didn't lose any clients during my issues with them.

Boy, this thread is happening at just the right time for me. I really want to leave MacHighway after a few bad experiences (the most recent incident was AWFUL) but the truth is I'm not clear about how to do so re. my Fastmail email service. I fear my ignorance will throw a monkey wrench into both the website and my email. My annual MacHighway contract is up for renewal very soon.

there is no reason to stick with an unreliable web host. I offer hosting to my clients and a handful of folks here on the forum. If anyone has questions about how to change hosts or would like info about my hosting services, just send me a PM. I'm happy to lend advice, even if you don't end up hosting with me.
