A good time to bring up the idea of compulsory civil service?

My thoughts were an outline, not a fully fleshed out government program ready for immediate implementation.

But a ~450 word “outline” DOES have quite a number of proposals.

Make realistic, workable proposals and I’ll be first in line to support them.

I'd say Diana is clueless re proper training. It can NOT be done effectively in the piecemeal way she envisions.

One MAIN intent of MANDATORY conscription is to get Billy & Sally AWAY from mommy & daddy and their "normal comfort zone". Put them in a situation where they can't fall back on parents. They CAN be taught to stand on their own two feet (and be responsible for the consequences of not doing so).

RgrF raise excellent points on how society as a whole benefited from National Service. As for being illegal, laws CAN be changed (Roe v Wade anyone?).

"National Service" works in other countries around the world. It can work here too.

This isn’t your parents or grandparents CCC or WPA jobs programs. I vote no.

Think about how awesome that would be though. This country could use some bridge building...
