It was justified.

Justified, starring Timothy Olyphant as US Marshal Raylan Givens, was a great show that ran for about five seasons.

I was sorry to see it go, as Olyphant was so good, and there was a great supporting cast.

That's a badass hat (and no, it's not a Stetson.)

One of the standouts, a brilliant actor, was Walter Goggins, as Wade Boyd.

Also brilliant was Margo Martindale, as Mags Bennett, another villain worthy of Givan's attention.

So I just stumbled across some articles about a Justified spinoff — Justified: City Primeval.

I avoided reading as much as possible of these articles, just enough to see that it's based on Elmore Leonard's novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, will have a whole new cast as well as location, that it will be a miniseries or limited series, as all the in-kidz say, and it will air some time in 2023.

I really want this to be one of those 'the fans loved it so much, it will be a continuing series' thing, as was Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

As spoilers are an anathema, there is a lack of details, but the information is out there.

I can't wait, and I hope the white hat is back.

Ok, I can but I don't like it.

A few weeks back I mentioned a great TV series, Annika, starring Nicola Walker, (Unforgiven, Spooks, River).

It's been available on AMZ Prime, with a hoop to jump through, and last night on PBS.

She's a brilliant actor, and really terrific in this new series.

She's a very nuanced actor, and it shows in everything she does, but especially in this series because it employs a style most people hate, but that I love when done well.

And she's spot on.

There have been a few shows that have done this, and I can't recall one that did it poorly but then, I'm a fan, if it's done with even a modicum of care.

Annika also a police procedural and as such also won't find favor among a lot of people.

But if that isn't a hurdle, this show should be given a chance, as the series is wholly entertaining.

I'm also very happy that it's been renewed for a second series.

Agreed on Justified on all counts.

But you scared the crap out of me when you put a subject line like that in the past tense. I was reading through your post bracing myself to read which of the terrific cast members may have left us prematurely.

Whew.

That’s Walton Goggins, and his character was Boyd Crowder.

He first caught my attention playing Shane Vendrell in The Shield 2002-2008.

Just caught the PBS Annika last night, it is really above average for a police/crime series and she's a terrific actress.

Agree also about Justified and their three leads.

I liked this but preferred Unforgotten. Also, she was great in Last Tango in Halifax, which is not a police procedural.

My son and I rewatched that recently, and it's great. It walks the line between ridiculous and serious better than anything I've ever seen. I like the humor. Walton is in the amazing gemstones, and it's obvious why they noticed him.

I'm a real fan of Nicola also. She's among the best.

I've enjoyed all four series of Unforgotten, but some of her back story got a little tedious, and I can't recall one time she smiled for any joyful or happen reason.

This is one of the big reasons I liked Annika so much.

She's done a lot of TV shows that aren't procedurals, but I've only seen The Split, and it wasn't my cup of tea.

I look forward to see how Series 5 of Unforgotten gets on.
